What Is The Best Water Saving Shower Head

What Is The Best Water Saving Shower Head

Antoin Eoghan Mori April 16, 2019

Let’s save the earth’s water supply and save the ecosystem.

Water is life. We need it to survive. We drink it, eat with it, wash with it, we even play in it when it comes falling from the skies. Some of our best times have been when we soaked in the sun at the beach or a nice picnic by the side of the lake. Water is a part of our lives for it flows in our veins.

While it seems like water is everywhere do not think that we can never run out of it. We need to know that most of the waters in the earth, such as from our oceans are not directly usable by man. Most of these waters are salt waters. And it is not easy to channel these to our waterways. They still need treatment before they can be used.

We, therefore, have to largely depend on water that is stored underground which are channeled into our homes through various pipe networks and systems.

When it comes to washing our bodies with it, we have the option of either taking a bath or taking a shower. These are two enticing options which we are faced with every day we walk into our bathrooms.

Depending on your mood, soaking in a bath with some nice oils, bath foam, some great tasting wine, and even a book, can be the perfect end to a very long day. Or just running and soaking in a bath for a while is all you need.

Well, there is the other option of taking a shower. Just get in the shower stall, turn the knob, and let the water beat down on you. From above, at some speedy high flow or low flow contingent on your shower head. If your bathroom is outfitted with a tub or a shower, this will largely affect the kind of wash you get to take.

Conserve Water – Make It As A MUST!

Recently, there has been a call to save water and conserve energy. We have been advised to turn off our taps when doing the dishes, shaving or washing your hair. Turn off your sprinklers when you are done watering your lawn.

When filling a bath, try and use only the volume of water you need. And not running the bath incessantly.

These will help not only save the water within your area but also help you in reducing the cost of your water and energy bills in the long run.

The best shower systems out there will help you achieve the goal of using less volume of water, low flow rate and still enjoy a high speedy shower.

“Then we ask ourselves, are showers more water efficient than baths?”

Well, the answer to this question is not always true.

There is the myth that we don’t use a high volume of water when we wash with showers. But the truth is a high-speedy shower will more often than not, use more water than taking a bath would. It is because of the shower type you have in your bathroom. The kind of shower head you have will determine to a large extent the volume of water that you would consume.

Ways To Save Water While Enjoying Shower Time

Now, there are different ways by which we can save water when taking a shower.

You could listen to songs while taking a shower. Now, we know the average shower time in the US is 8-mins. But we could still cut this time down by listening to a song that is shorter than 8-mins.

You could also bring in a kitchen timer into the shower with you to make sure you don’t exceed more than 8-mins. If you can come up with a shower routine that will only last for 5-mins, stick with it. This would help save water and conserve energy.

There are some shower heads that use air-bubbled water. To achieve the goal of reducing the overall amount of water used when an individual is taking an air-bubbled shower is to allow the soft and bubbly flow of water without loss of flow pressure.

These kinds of shower heads allow the pressure flow to remain high and constant throughout your shower time. With the mixing of air and water flow, we can reduce the volume of water used while still enjoying a nice shower.

Now, not all shower heads employ this kind of restriction. For some, you might have to actually purchase a showerhead that is designed to give you a low flow rate. Or add a special fitting on the shower head, a flow restrictor to save water.

What Kind Of Shower Head Should You Be Looking

According to the National Energy Act, shower head manufacturers must include a flow restrictor to their shower heads.

This flow restrictor or flow controller are made to reduce the flow of water from the shower head to 2.5 gallons per minute.

People who live in areas where there is low water pressure might find that their shower just kind of trickle in. Using a flow restrictor or flow controller helps you in saving your water and energy bills. Although, you can have it removed which would increase the flow pressure of your shower head. But, the downside is increased water and energy bills.

So, the best water saving shower heads with the best shower systems are those heads that:

  • Give us high speedy showers
  • Helps us reduce the volume of water consumed
  • Save us on our water and energy bills while we enjoy a nice long shower.

There is without a doubt a lot of great shower systems out there and finding the right one for your needs can be a strain. So take advantage of the above information and get yourself a great water saving shower head.
