The need for recording or voice communication arises for most people every day in the modern world. Sometimes you need to use a computer for this purpose.

A broken computer microphone can cause inconvenience and disrupt plans. In this case, it is possible to connect the phone to a PC and use it. This is also a hindrance if you are a vlogger. A functional microphone is one of the basic tools when filming a vlog.

This approach may not be very convenient, especially when the mobile is used for its intended purpose, but as a temporary solution, it will fit perfectly. There are several easy ways to accomplish this task.

All the most interesting and useful about microphones read on this site.

Connecting with WO Mic

The popularity and number of downloads of the application indicate that it satisfies user requests and copes well with its task.

The undoubted advantage of using WO Mic is that the audio signal is transmitted to a PC using any of the available methods: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB. The application itself weighs quite a bit and is very easy to use. To use the phone as a microphone, you must:

  1. Find and download the WO Mic to your mobile device.
  2. Download and install this program on your PC. It is necessary.
  3. Select the data interface to be used in the PC version settings (“Settings” > “Transport”). If Bluetooth has been selected, you need to make sure that it is activated on both devices.
  4. Then you should run the program on your smartphone and press the connect button. If everything is done correctly, the devices will detect each other and will only confirm the connection.

WO Mic is not the only application that can solve this problem. Among the many available should also be noted such as “Microphone“. Its use is even easier, and getting started is much faster. The only thing that is needed besides the application itself is a balanced audio cable with identical plugs on both sides. Connection using the Microphone application is as follows:

  1. Download it and install the program on your smartphone.
  2. Connect both devices with a cable. The computer is connected via a microphone jack (marked pink).
  3. Start the application and you can start using the phone as a microphone.

This method is the simplest and all existing, except for the fact that a special cable is needed, which is not always at hand. Using programs is not always necessary – there are other ways to connect.

Alternative ways to use the phone as a microphone

There are many different ways to connect your phone to a computer and use it as a microphone. For these purposes, you can use all modern data transfer protocols: USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. But in any case, this solution cannot be called quality and reliable.

Alternative options include connecting an external microphone to the phone. This will make the transmission of sound more clear and high quality. Using the adapter for Jack and connecting it to the lavalier microphone, you can achieve a good result.

ATTENTION! The problem with this method is that not every smartphone is capable of recording audio from an external device. Many models will continue to receive sound from the built-in.

To solve this problem, and connect the phone via USB. In this case, you will need to set the data transmission setting in the “Transport” window to the appropriate position in the WO Mic. This will make a temporary microphone out of the smartphone, which will be used by programs on the PC.

Similar to the previous method, it is possible to make a connection via Wi-Fi. In this case, you should make sure that both devices are connected to a common Wi-Fi network.

You also need to set the internal IP of the phone in the menu “Wi-Fi”> “Address”, which can be seen in the settings of WO Mic.

Conclusion

The methods described in this article will undoubtedly help solve the problem with a microphone broken on a computer. But it should be understood that the sound quality, in this case, will be low, and its transmission occurs with long delays. In addition, it is not very convenient and such use of the phone is recommended as a temporary measure until you have the opportunity to buy a new microphone or repair an old one.
