Sony MDR-XB450AP Extra Bass, headphone with microphone, is the latest headphones I bought for PHP 2,850.00 (nearly $60 USD) in the Philippines last month. The last headphones I bought was last year, PHILIPS SHG7980 Headset. The price is almost the same between the two headphones but for me, Sony MDR-X450AP Extra Bass is the best as compared to my last headphones. I can feel the beat of each song I play on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Also works perfectly with my Dell Ultrabook laptop.
Without any further ado, I want to share with you why I opted to use my new headgear Sony MDR-XB450AP headset with this short review. And like what I always tell my readers, it’s entirely up to you whether you want to buy this or not.

Unboxing Sony MDR-XB450AP Extra Bass
If you just look at the box of Sony MDR-XB450AP Extra Bass from the shelves, you probably won’t appreciate it without reading any reviews. The packaging is enclosed and you won’t be able to take even a quick peek unless you ask permission from the store. But if you’re lucky, there are some stores who provide consumers or interested buyers with one sample unit where you can actually try. I suggest you insist on the store for you to check out the package before you actually purchase it. For my case, I didn’t hesitate and purchased it right away after I saw it – risk taker!
I was a little bit excited at the same time nervous before I opened the box. I was afraid that these new headphones won’t meet my expectations or worst won’t fit my head! But I was amazed when I saw what’s inside that box – simply beautiful! The Sony MDR-X450AP Extra Bass has a swivel design where you can lay your headphone flat which makes it easier to carry inside your bag. It also includes a small operating instructions pamphlet with technical specifications of the headphones.
The Sony MDR-XB450AP Extra Bass comes in a variety of colors – Black, Red, and Blue (so far). I was actually looking for the black colored headphones but this red Sony MDR-XB450AP isn’t bad after all!
The first thing I noticed with Sony MDR-XB450AP Extra Bass aside from the swivel design is the aluminum housing of those pair of headphones. Also, these headphones sport a tangle-free cable`with its durable, finely-grooved Serrated Cable. Talking more about the Y-type cord, the omnidirectional microphone is situated on the left side of the cord. At the end of the line, is an L-shaped, gold-plated four-conductor mini plug which I think is a smart design so the wiring won’t easily break when you put your player (or mobile phone) on your pocket or bag. The headband is also amazing. It is adjustable to suit your head.
MDR-XB450AP is a closed type, on-ear headphone with 3.94 ft long Y-type cord. The impedance is 24Ω at 1 kHz with a frequency of 5 – 22 kHz and the sensitivity is 102 dB/mW.
This amazing headphones from Sony also sport a Beat Response Control technology which is perfect also for low-end focused music. And the cushioned earpads are really comfortable to the ear which also helps to enclose or seal the music perfectly. Although, I am eyeing on this new pair of waterproof wireless earbuds from xFyro called ARIA. It does sound cool and promising.
