Five Reasons Why You Should Prefer VoIP over Conventional Communication

Five Reasons Why You Should Prefer VoIP over Conventional Communication

By: Aine Mori Fharney Last updated on March 12th, 2020

In the recent few years, Voice over IP (VoIP) has emerged to be a great alternative for traditional communication due to its diverse abilities and flexible layout. To address the modern telephonic needs, individuals, as well as businesses, are already considering VoIP over the conventional telecom networks. Listed below are five major reasons why you should also prefer VoIP over traditional communication.

  • 4. Remote Access
  • 5. Added Features

1. Low Cost

The first and most regarded characteristic of VoIP is its extremely low cost. A VoIP telephone system makes use of Internet Protocol to connect people at distant locations. While landline phones use telephone wires, the VoIP system employs an IP network to send data in packets, which works through an internet connection or a direct IP connection offered by your telephone service provider. Contrary to traditional phone lines where a line is shared by two people, a call on a VoIP system allows the integration of different callers from all around the world. Therefore, these calls are cheaper as compared to traditional phone calls.

The virtual credits in VoIP applications work for a longer time, as the call rates are very low. Most applications would even allow you to make calls without spending a dime. That is the reason why VoIP is now a favorite choice of individuals.

2. Connectivity Options

In conventional telecommunication, the network usually allows only two persons to interact with each other on the wire. Though you can add more people to the call, it would, however, require extra equipment and arrangements to make that possible. While in VoIP, the calling applications can easily add tens of people to a single call or message conversation with just a click.

3. Setup Cost

To communicate, you need to have a smartphone or desktop computer, where you could install the VoIP software and start making calls. The hardware cost is not much, as most cheap smartphones allow you to communicate over VoIP. Moreover, there is very less or no software setup cost, as most of the VoIP applications are free to download, install and use. The rest you would need is a reliable Wi-Fi network or a wired internet connection.

4. Remote Access

If you are using VoIP apps for making or taking official calls, it makes your job a lot easier. Most VoIP apps would allow you to access your account (contact number in this case) from outside the office. This technology is making it easier for people to work remotely. You just need a broadband connection or 4G network, which at this age is something easily and cheaply available.

5. Added Features

VoIP offers several other useful and/or interesting features than just making free or cheap calls. For instance, you can share photos, videos and other multimedia content with your family, friends or peers at an office. These apps also allow you to record and send voice call messages if your receiver is not available. You can even install the mspy app to track and manage calls.

Another great aspect of VoIP is videoconferencing. This is a boon specifically for businesses where they can remain in touch with their workers and clients. While communicating, they can also share documents and finalize the deals. For a CEO, this technology serves the most. Even when they are abroad attending meetings and making deals, they can conduct important staff meetings at the home office and take them on board on the current proceedings, and provide instructions on future endeavors.

I’m sure these features are quite enough to convince you that using VoIP for communication is better than employing traditional means.
