iCloud Automatic Backup: Quick Steps

For the more technologically-inclined, here is a one-step process on how to implement iCloud automatic backup.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Pick [your name].
  • Choose iCloud.
  • Then, choose Backup.
  • You will see a slider to turn on the iCloud Backup.

However, for those who are still having trouble with regard to using iCloud automatic backup, check out the step by step procedure below.

Essentially, there are two ways to backup to your iCloud automatically – one is through the iCloud app while the other is via iTunes. If you are backing up your iOS devices such as iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, you will have a copy of the data to use in case they get lost, replaced or damaged.

Before getting started, choose which method suits you best and know the difference between making backups using the applications, iCloud and iTunes.

iCloud Automatic Backup Method

  1. FIrst, connect to a wi-fi network
  2. Then, go to Settings > [your name] and then tap iCloud. See the figure below.
  3. Now, for iOS 10.2 users or earlier, go to Settings, scroll down and then tap iCloud.
  4. The next thing that you should do is to Tap iCloud Backup and make sure it is turned on.
  5. Then, tap the Back Up Now function and make sure that you are connected with steady Wi-Fi network until such time that the entire process is completed.
  6. To find out if it is already finished, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Storage > Manage Storage and then select the device you are backing up.
  7. You will be able to see the details of the backup, including time and backup size.

Notes:

1. Make sure that your device screen is locked.

2. Ensure that you have enough iCloud storage for the backup. The default free storage for iCloud is 5GB. If you need more, the plans start at 50GB for $0.99/month.
